Roma and Gypsy songs and romances
Romane Gila are the soulful songs of the Roma, reflecting their journeys, joys, and sorrows. These songs, born under the „Gypsy sun”, tell stories of freedom, love, homelessness, and exclusion. Many „white” poets and composers were inspired by the Roma, and their music remains alive today thanks to the Roma's enduring tradition. Katjusha Kozubek and Lautari include these timeless pieces in their repertoire.
„She sings Roma songs with archaic power and vitality, full of hope, humor and sorrow. Her straight and clear voice is stirringly intensive. This strong, almost unapproachable woman seems to be vulnerable and proud at the same time.”
