Romane Gila are the songs of the Roma, created along their long journeys, born under the moon – the Gypsy sun – and sung by fires that are now nearly extinguished. These songs carry the laughter and tears of a people who have experienced not only the sweetness of freedom and love but also the pain of homelessness and exclusion.
Fascinated by these people, many „white” poets and composers dedicated their works to them. Some of these songs and romances remain unforgettable only because the Roma sang and played them – and continue to do so today.
For this reason, these Gypsy songs are also part of the repertoire of Katjusha Kozubek and Lautari.
„She sings Roma songs with archaic power and vitality, full of hope, humor and sorrow. Her straight and clear voice is stirringly intensive. This strong, almost unapproachable woman seems to be vulnerable and proud at the same time.”
